Old Habits
What does the word old imply? Just what it say's, it is old. There are a lot of good old habits, but we are talking about the Old Bad Habits. The ones that you cannot break.
Habits is a systematic way of doing things. some people say we, or I have always done it this way, even when it does not work very well. Breaking an old bad habit is hard to break because it has become a natural part of your personality.
I have seen wordly women let their little 4 or 5 year old daughters wear their blue jeans or little short pants as short as they can be, and when they are old that way of wearing their clothes has been sown into their mind. Some wear their clothes so tight that when they are 30 years old, they are still trying to dress like a teeanager. Even when young are allowed to wear their pants sagging as a child, it become an old habit. Men and women get out of a relationship and they get right back in another, they cannot stop the trend because it has become a habit for them to be with someone. When they choose someone else, most of the time they choose someone like the last young man or woman they were with before.
Many do not realize that they have a problem with the old bad habit until they are going to their grave.
1st Corinthians, 13th Chapter, 11 verse, When I was a Child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, or (woman) I put away childish things.
I have seen some people come to church and bring their old bad habits to the church, either by speech or dress in their appearance. What they don't understand is that once the light of Jesus Christ shine in your heart it is impossible to keep those old bad habits unless you are not sincere about the Lord.
What most people do realize is that their old bad habits are their religion.
Ephesians 4th chapter, 22 - 24 verses, That ye put off concerning the former(the old man) conversation of the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lust; 23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind 24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.
If your old car keep breaking down on you, and you keep having to spend money it to fix it, it is not dependable and most of the time does not work. That's how it is with old habits, they do not work because eventually they will fail you. Only trusting in the Lord Jesus can save from your old habits.
If you say you are a Christian, those old habits should have long been laid to the side.
II Corinthians 5th Chapter, 17 Verse , Therefore if any man(woman) be in Christ, he is a new creature: Old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
If the old Habits and thing have passed away, why do you keep trying to bring them back alive?
